Forgive me, Internet, for I have sinned; it’s been over a month since my last post! I’ve got a one coming up on a hike at Temescal Gateway Park in Pacific Palisades but in the meantime, here’s a story I did for LAist in early June in which I spent an entire day with the amazing Grilled Cheese Truck. I’ve never worked a day in the food industry, so riding along with in the truck gave me a tiring-yet-tasty crash course on a day in the life of a restaurant on wheels. I knew I’d have a hard time keeping my hungry hands off their melts, and at the end of the night, they even let me make a few to see how well I’d fare as a grilled cheese sandwich artist. The staff generally love their jobs and it shows: Every single customer receives a delicious grilled cheese sandwich and a heartfelt “thank you”. I’m pretty sure they weren’t just showing off for the reporter on board; having been a patron a few times before, I knew the special treatment was given to everyone.
Follow them on Twitter to see when they’ll be in your area. I highly recommend their Harvest Melt (their best-seller is the Cheesy Mac & Rib, but I’m a no-cow consumer)!
